Mumbai, one of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra where voting is underway in the fourth phase of the general elections, recorded 42.35 per cent polling till 3 pm on Monday, the state election office said.

Voting in Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Raver, Jalna Aurangabad, Maval, Pune, Shirur, Ahmednagar, Shirdi and Beed constituencies began at 7 am and will end at 6 pm.

According to data shared by officials, tribal-dominated Nandurba recorded 49.91 per cent voting, while Jalna recorded 47.51 per cent voting till noon.

Voting was 46.49 percent in Beed, 45.26 percent in Raver, 44.87 percent in Shirdi, 43.76 percent in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 42.1 percent in Jalgaon, 41.35 percent in Ahmednagar, 36.54 percent in Maval, 36.4 percent in Shirur. percent, and Pune at 35.61 percent.Marathi actor Subodh Bhave, Sonali Kulkarni and singer Arya Ambekar exercised their franchise.



Pune city president of Congress Arvind Shinde has alleged fake voting.



“I went to St. Mira's School to vote, but my name had already been struck off the list, and I was told that my name had already been voted on. Someone had signed next to my name. I have challenged it and submitted my tender and also filed an online complaint,” he said.



Union minister Raosaheb Danve, BJP leader Pankaja Munde and actor-turned-politician Amol Kolhe are among the prominent candidates.A total of 298 candidates are in the fray, of which Beed has the highest number of 41 candidates and Nandurbar has the least number of 11 candidates.

Overall, 2.28 crore voters are eligible to participate in the fourth phase of elections in the state. These include 1.18 crore men, 1.09 crore women and 1,272 voters of the third gender.

Across the 11 constituencies, there are 23,284 polling stations, of which 83 are considered critical.



The official said that voting is going on using 53,959 ballot units, 23,284 control units and 23,28 VVPAT machines.The BJP has again fielded Union ministers Danve from Jalna constituency and Suja Vikhe Patil from Ahmednagar and former minister of state Pankaja Munde from Beed.

Actor Amol Kolhe is the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) candidate from Shirur Lok Sabha seat in Pune district.



NCP (SP) candidate Bajrang Sonawane, Union minister Raosaheb Danve, AIMIM M Imtiaz Jaleel and opposition leader Ambadas Danve cast their votes in their constituencies.



In Jalna it is BJP vs Congress and in Aurangabad it is Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) vs Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.



In Beed, the BJP has fielded former minister of state Pankaja Munde in place of sitting MP and her younger sister Pritam Munde.Pankaja's main rival is Bajran Sonawane of NCP (SP).

In Shirur, sitting NCP (SP) MP Kolhe is pitted against Shivajira Adhalrao Patil, who is contesting on an NCP ticket.



After Baramati in Pune district, Shirur is another prestige battle for Aji Pawar, who has publicly said he wants to ensure Kolhe's defeat.

In Nandurbar (ST-Reserved) in North Maharashtra, sitting BJP MP Heena Gavi and Congress's Gowal Padvi are in direct contest.



Sitting BJP MP Sujay Vikhe Patil is contesting from NCP (SP) leader Nilesh Lanke in western Maharashtra's Ahmednagar.Lanke, a former MLA from Parner in Ahmednagar district, had supported Ajit Pawar after the NCP split in July 2023. However, he later returned to the Sharad Pawar camp.



Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats, the second highest after 80 in Uttar Pradesh.

Voting was completed on 24 out of 48 seats in the first three phases of elections.
