GURUGRAM: Gurugram police have arrested four people linked to gangster Kaushal after a brief encounter near Manesar on Thursday, officials said.

He said that the accused have been identified as Sachin alias Gajnu (28), Krishna (30), Sanjay (31) and Anish (30).

According to the police, they received information on Wednesday night that four people associated with gangster Kaushal were going to Dharuhera to commit some crime. Teams were formed after receiving the information.

Police said teams were taken to the highway, where they set up barricades on both sides of the Delhi-Jaipur highway in front of the NSG camp early Thursday.

According to the complaint lodged by PSI Sumit, around 3:50 am a gray Echo van was seen coming from Bilaspur direction. When the police team signaled the driver to stop, he tried to run away and fired at them.

However, the van got stuck in a drain near the service lane.

"The driver and his associate came out of the van and started firing at the police, while two others were sitting in the rear seat. In the firing, a sub-inspector was shot in the chest, but remained safe as he sustained injuries " A bullet proof jacket,” said PSI Sumit.

"Both the accused were caught after being shot in the legs. Police also arrested two other people sitting in the van," he said.

A senior police officer said that both the injured have been admitted to the hospital and the police are interrogating the other two accused.

Two country made pistols with cartridges were recovered from their possession. An FIR was registered at Manesar police station on Thursday under relevant sections of the Indian Judicial Code and Arms Act, he said.
