Three minor brothers and sisters were burnt to death in a fire that broke out in a thatched house in Ambikapur, Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. Police gave this information on Sunday.



A police officer said that the incident took place late on Saturday night in Barima village under Kamleshwarpu police station area when the children's mother had gone to a neighbour's house after lighting an earthen stove.

He told that the woman Sudhani Bai lit the stove at around 9 pm and went to the neighbor's house to find her second elder daughter.



She returned around 3 a.m. to find the entire house gutted, the official SAI said in a statement.

After the information, a police team reached the spot.



Police said that prima facie, the fire in the house appears to have been caused by flames from a stove, adding further investigation is underway.



The deceased have been identified as Kumari Gulabi (8), her sister Sushma (4) and brother Ram Prasad (2), the official said.
