Noida, Noida Police on Thursday said they have seized 800 kg of ganja, worth around Rs 4 crore in the black market, and arrested three people carrying it.

He said that ganja was hidden along with 2,000 liters of pesticide in the truck, which they were bringing from Odisha.

The truck was stopped at the Sector 62 intersection by the Crime Response Team (CRT) of Noida Police along with officials from the local Sector 58 police station late on Wednesday night.

"The CRT and Sector 58 team have arrested three accused and recovered about eight quintals of ganja (worth Rs 4 crore) and pesticides (worth Rs 60 lakh) from them. Also recovered a truck and a vehicle from them Has been." DCP (Noida) Vidya Sagar Mishra said.

Additional DCP (Noida) Manish Kumar Mishra said that apart from the truck, a Maruti Ciaz car has also been seized.

"This car acted as an escort vehicle for the truck, driving ahead of the truck throughout the route to warn of any impending police or security checks," he told reporters.

On the price of the seized drug, ADCP Mishra said, “The price of ganja in the black market varies depending on its quality. This ganja is of good quality.,

According to the police, those arrested have been identified as gang leader Sudama Chaudhary, Anish and Praveen Paswan.

Police said Chaudhary and Paswan are residents of Bhojpur in Bihar, while Anish is a native of Nuh in Haryana.

DCP Mishra said that gang leader Sudama Chaudhary had been arrested earlier also in similar crimes.

"He was released from jail two months ago in connection with a case registered at the Expressway police station in Noida," he said.

Police said the seized truck is registered in Rajasthan while the car is registered in Bihar.An FIR has been registered against the accused under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Sector 58 police station, and further legal proceedings are underway, police said.
