Palghar, Police in Maharashtra's Palghar district have arrested two persons for not following rules in renting out their premises to foreign nationals, an official said on Thursday.

The property owners had given their premises to foreigners for residential or commercial purposes under the jurisdiction of Tulinj police station in Nalasopara (East) on the outskirts of Mumbai, he said.

According to an official release, such owners will have to inform the police within 2 hours of renting out their premises. As per existing laws, action may be taken against those who do not comply with the requirement.

However, despite wide publicity and repeated warnings about the clauses, property owners failed to follow the rules, the official said.
