BENGALURU: JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has claimed that 25,000 pen drives containing videos of his nephew, Lok Sabha election candidate Prajwal Revanna, allegedly sexually abusing women, were distributed ahead of the elections, and asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. And his deputy DK Shivakumar has been accused. a plot.

The former chief minister also sought to discredit the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the Congress government on April 28 to probe the allegations of sexual exploitation of several women against Prajwal, in which videos allegedly related to him went viral on social media. Were engaged.

The number two leader of the JD(S), who is the son of party supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, said it is not a special investigation team but a "Siddaramaiah investigation team" but a "Shivkumar investigation team".MLA HD Revanna and his son and Hassan MP Prajwal have been booked for molesting their cook. In another case, Revanna has been booked and arrested for kidnapping a woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Prajwal.A case of rape has also been registered against Prajwal.

Addressing a press conference here, Kumaraswamy said the pen drives were circulated by police officers who were "threatened to do so".

“It (the pen drive containing the video) was released in Bengaluru Rural constituency (where the Congress candidate in the Lok Sabha elections is D Suresh, who is Shivakumar's brother). This was the incident of 21st April. On April 22, our polling agent Purnachandra gave a complaint to the district deputy commissioner, who is the returning officer,” the JD(S) leader said. “Poornachandra received a message at 8 pm on April 21 asking people to say ‘Prajwal Revanna ka Ghatiya Asked to 'follow' WhatsApp channel to watch video. Kumaraswamy further said, there was a message on this WhatsApp channel, 'Countdown for the release of Prajwal's dirty video.,

According to Kumaraswamy, one Naveen Gowda had sent the message about the "countdown".

He said that in his complaint to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Hassan district, Purnachandra has named five people including Naveen Gowda Karthik Gowda (driver of Revanna), Chetan and Puttaraju alias Putti. Kumaraswamy said that on April 21 It has been more than a fortnight since the complaint was made, but no action has been taken against these five people and demanded that first of all they should be arrested for "mortgaging the modesty" of the women in the video.

Kumaraswamy alleged that 25,000 pen drives were distributed across the state and cited a report by a regional daily to support his claim.

“My question here is why no action was taken. If someone posts something on social media, his house is immediately searched and he is taken to the police station. Why was no action taken against these five people despite the complaint?” he asked. "Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had confidently said that all three JD(S) candidates would lose in the Lok Sabha elections," Kumaraswamy said. "This raises suspicion about the involvement of many people," he said.

On April 25, Karnataka State Women's Commission chairperson Nagalakshma Choudhary wrote to Siddaramaiah demanding an SIT probe into the tapes in which Prajwal is allegedly seen sexually exploiting several women. The same night, C gave his approval and ordered the formation of the SIT, Kumaraswamy said.

“In that letter, Nagalakshmi Choudhary did not mention the name of Prajwal O Revanna, but when the Chief Minister had announced the formation of the SIT, she had called it 'explicit video of Prajwal Revanna' in her post on 'X' . This shows how the conspiracy was hatched,'' the JD(S) leader claimed. He also alleged that the first complaint to "frame" his brother HD Revanna and nephew Prajwal was typed on a computer in Bengaluru And on 28 April it was sent to Holenarasipura, which is represented in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly by B Revanna.

He alleged, “It is not a special investigation team, but there are two teams within it – one ‘Siddaramaiah Investigation Team’ and the other ‘Sivakuma Investigation Team’.,

He said Karthik Gowda, the 'coordinator' of the "Pen Drive story", should first be traced and brought before the people. Kumaraswamy further alleged, "Given the conspiracies, no one can doubt the motive behind the investigation." Because more than protecting the victimized women, you are limiting the scope of investigation only to defame people.”

He underlined that he was not trying to protect anyone. “I have said that I will not defend anyone who has done wrong in this case. The person involved in this crime should be given strict punishment as per the law of the country."
