More than 55,400 people have fled Singa, the capital of Sinnar state, since fighting escalated between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary RSF in June, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

At least 16,650 people have died in the Sudan conflict that began in mid-April 2023, OCHA said in a June report.

More than 7.7 million people have been internally displaced within Sudan since the conflict began, while about 2.2 million others have crossed the border into neighboring countries, according to data released on June 25 by the United Nations International Organization for Migration.
