In the worst-hit Lao Cai province, 98 people were reported dead, including 47 due to flash floods in Nu village. Eighty-one other people are missing in the province.

Cao Bang Province, 43, Yen Bai, 42, and Quang Ninh, 15, among others, died, Xinhua news agency reported.

Flood waters on the Red River in the capital Hanoi have gradually receded since Thursday afternoon, below warning level 2 and above warning levels 1 through 3, according to the National Hydrometeorological Forecasting Centre.

The Center said, landslide warning remains in place in northern areas.

Local media reported that search and rescue efforts are underway across the region to bring the situation under control after the storm and to quickly stabilize local livelihoods.

International relief provided by partner countries and organizations is being delivered to Vietnam for people affected by flash floods and landslides following Typhoon Yagi, Vietnam News reports.
