Nawada: 21 houses were set on fire in Nawada district of Bihar on Wednesday evening. Police gave this information.

He said that preliminary investigation has revealed that a land dispute could be the reason behind the incident that took place in Manjhi Tola of Mufassil police station area.

He said that no one was injured in the incident.

Police said ten people have been detained and a search is on for other accused.

"Around 7.30 pm, a call was received that some houses have been set on fire in Manjhi Tola. Police immediately reached the spot with fire engines. It took some time to extinguish the fire. According to the villagers, a group of people set the houses on fire. The fire started around 7 pm,” SP Abhinav Dhiman also visited the area.

"Preliminary investigation reveals that the reason behind the incident is a land dispute. A case has been registered and investigation is underway," he said.

Another police officer said bullets were also fired in the air while houses were being set on fire.

Dhiman said the situation is now under control and a large police contingent has been deployed in the area to prevent any kind of violence.
