Thane, Around 20 electricity meters were destroyed in a fire in a four-storey residential building in Thane district of Maharashtra. Civil officials gave this information on Sunday.

Thane Municipal Corporation disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said no one was injured in the incident that took place on Saturday night at Noor Mahal Housing Society in Mumbra area.



He said that around 11.15 pm on Saturday night, a fire broke out in an electric meter and spread to other equipment.

People living in the building came out as a safety measure.



After receiving the information, local fire brigade personnel, Regional Disaster Management Cell team, electricity supply personnel and police reached the spot.



The official said the fire was brought under control after about an hour.



The power supply to the building was cut off after the fire.



The official said the fire was suspected to be caused by a short-circuit and was being confirmed.
