Jashpur (Chhattisgarh): Two minor boys were killed and eight other persons were injured when a truck and their auto-rickshaw collided in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district early Tuesday, police said.

The accident occurred around 2 am when the victims were returning to their home in Dumartoli village after working as a caterer at a wedding function, an official said.

He said the truck driver lost control over the wheels, following which the vehicle collided with an auto-rickshaw carrying 10 people at Tehsil Chau under Bagicha police station area.

The officer said that after receiving the information, police reached the spot and the victims were taken to Bagicha Hospital, where doctors declared two boys, aged 11 and 14, dead.

He said five of the eight injured were seriously injured and were shifted to a medical facility in Ambikapur town for better treatment.



The bodies were sent for post-mortem.



The officer said a case has been registered under relevant provisions against the truck driver, who fled from the spot and efforts are on to nab him.
