Bhubaneswar: Two people have been arrested for duping investors of around Rs 15 crore in Odisha by promising good returns in crypto schemes.

He said that the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Odisha Police arrested Ved Prakash from Anupgarh in Rajasthan on April 10 and Sudhir Patel from Sundergarh in the state on April 14.

The arrests were made on the basis of a complaint filed by a defrauded investor from western Odisha in December 2023.

The official said that Pram Sagar Khamari had said in his complaint that he invested more than Rs 4 lakh in crypto schemes and received a nominal return of Rs 20,000.

He said, “By promising high returns on investments in various crypto schemes, the accused persons have defrauded more than Rs 15 crore from around 500 investors mainly in Puri, Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Bargarh districts and Maharashtra " ,

Further investigation is underway.
