Acting on credible information, officers of Commissioner's Task Force, South West Zone team intercepted drug smugglers in Humayun Nagar and Bhawani Nagar police station limits, who were found in possession of huge quantity of narcotics weighing 164 kg.

Deputy Commissioner of Police S.Rashmi Perumal of the Commissioner's Task Force told media persons on Sunday that property worth Rs 60 lakh has been seized in both the cases.

In the first case related to Humayun Nagar police station, three drug smugglers were caught in Paramount Colony in Tolichowki area and 100 kg of ganja was seized from them.

Dharavat Ravi, a native of Kamareddy district, was earlier arrested in an NDPS case in Maharashtra.

Recently, he traveled to Muchumput in Odisha, where he purchased 32 packets of ganja worth 100 kg from a ganja farmer named Govind.Ravi along with his friends Syed Bahadur and Anand Ramji Kadam, residents of Nanded, Maharashtra, loaded the same ganja in a Hyundai Accent car and drove towards Hyderabad.

Acting on credible information, the task force apprehended the accused persons near Paramount Colony within the limits of Humayun Nagar police station.

In the second case, the task force arrested three people and seized 64 kg of ganja under Bhawani Nagar police station limits.

The accused were identified as Sheikh Parvez, Abdul Rawoof and Mohammad Anwar.

Sheikh Parvez, a native of Hyderabad, was previously involved in two NDPS cases, including one in Ravulapalem, Andhra Pradesh.According to the police, when Parvez was in Rajahmundry jail, he met ganja cultivator and smuggler Deepak, a native of Kalimela in Odisha.

Upon his release from jail in April 2024, he planned to sell ganja and earn easy money.

He contacted Deepak who transported the ganja to Hyderabad in RTC buses through his associates.

Acting on credible information, the task force team apprehended the accused persons in two cars and a two-wheeler.
