Haveri (Karnataka), 13 people were killed and four others injured when a van allegedly collided with a lorry at Gundenahalli Cross in Byadgi taluk early Friday. Police gave this information.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 3.45 am when the van collided with a lorry parked along National Highway 48 at Byadagi in Haveri district.

There were a total of 17 people in the van. Eleven of them died on the spot while two others were declared dead at the hospital, a senior police officer said.

He said that out of the four injured, two are admitted in the ICU of the hospital.

Haveri Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar Srivastava said, "The victims were coming from Chincholi Mayamma Devasthan and were going to their native village Yamahatti in Shivamogga district. The lorry was parked on the side of the highway. The tempo traveler hit the lorry from behind." ) told .

He said that the bodies have been kept in the mortuary and the injured have been admitted to Haveri Government Hospital.
