According to Friday's report by Xinhua news agency, Israeli forces fired artillery shells and bullets at tents in the Al-Mawasi area.

Security sources told Xinhua that the shelling began on Thursday night after Israeli tanks advanced near the area.

According to local sources and eyewitnesses, the bombing campaigns caused panic and fear among the displaced people, who abandoned their tents and fled to areas southwest of Khan Yunis.

Medical sources told Xinhua that 11 Palestinians were killed and more than 40 others were injured as a result of the bombing, all of whom were transferred to hospital.

Al-Mawasi Beach is an open sandy area that extends from southwest of the city of Deir al-Balah in the center of the Gaza Strip through western Khan Yunis to the west of Rafah.

The area lacks infrastructure, sewage networks, power lines, communication networks and internet, making living conditions difficult for the displaced persons living there.
