The deceased have been identified as 40 year old Chandan Sahni, 21 year old Monojit Mandal, 16 year old Ra Mridha, 19 year old Asit Saha, 11 year old Sheikh Sabrul, 11 year old Rana Sheikh, 65 year old Atul Mandal, 45 year old Sumitra Mandal, 23 year old Nayan Ray, Has taken place in the form of Priyanka. These deaths have occurred from four areas of Malda – Old Malda Manikchowk, English Bazaar and Harishchandrapur.
The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the family members of the victims.
According to District Magistrate Nitin Singhania, information is being collected from each block of the district to find out if more such deaths related to Roshni have occurred.
“The bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” he said.
