Joint teams of police and district administration are reviewing the situation in Pratapgarh and said the families of the deceased will be provided compensation under the Farmers Accident Assistance Scheme.

These deaths were recorded in Sangramgarh, Jethwara, Antu, Manikpur and Kandhai police circles of Pratapgarh district.

Three people, including Kranti Vishwakarma, 20, Guddu Saroj, 40, and Pankaj Tripathi, 45, residents of Ataulia, Agos and Nawabganj, died in separate incidents of lightning in the jurisdiction of Manikpur police station on Wednesday evening, police said .

Another person, identified as Shiv Patel, 24, and a resident of Mannar, was admitted to a hospital in Rae Bareli for treatment after coming in contact with electricity.

Arjun, 45, and his wife Suman, 40, residents of Purshottampur, under Kandhai police circle, died after being struck by lightning while they were working in the fields at Purshottampur village on Wednesday evening.

A woman named Ram Pyari was admitted to hospital after being struck by lightning in Amhara village. However, he died during treatment.

Two people died due to lightning in Bharatpur village of Sangramgarh Police Circle on Wednesday evening, including 40-year-old Aarti Mishra and her daughter Ananya Mishra, 15, residents of Bharatpur.

Similarly, Suryakali, a 65-year-old woman, resident of Naya Purva, also died due to lightning while she was working in her field.

A 48-year-old woman named Aradhana Saroj under Jethwara police station died due to contact with lightning on Wednesday evening.

A person named Vijay Kumar, 45, resident of Pandohi in Antu police station, also died due to lightning while grazing goats in Neem Dabha village of Hamidpur.
