Jhansi (UP): 100 per cent voting has been recorded at two polling stations in Jhansi Lok Sabha constituency, where the fifth phase of elections was held on May 20, officials said on Tuesday.

According to an official statement issued by the District Election Officer (DEO) and District Magistrate Akshay Tripathi, all 375 voters – 198 men and 177 women – cast their votes at booth number 277 in Soulda of Mehrauni Assembly. Similarly, at booth number 355 in Bamhaura Nagal village, all 441 registered voters – 23 men and 206 women – participated.

Both these booths are located in Lalitpur district.

The statement said that in another village, Budhani Narahat, there is still confusion regarding 100 per cent voting due to technical issues, it is likely that 100 per cent voting will be declared there too.

DEO Tripathi said that further information will be confirmed after the technical problems are resolved.

The statement said that as a result of continuous efforts by the government administration to create awareness about voting, more than 63.57 percent voting was recorded in Jhansi parliamentary constituency.

Regarding reports that a youth was brought to cast his vote, DEO Tripathi said the man was motivated by the village head and village development officer and he had come voluntarily.

He said that some laborers working outside their villages also reached here to cast their votes.
