Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh), July 12 (Language) A group of 10 school students from Bilaspur district got a chance to learn about space science and visit the Space Applications Center (SAC) and Gujarat Science City of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bilaspur Nidhi Patel said that the objective of such programs is to develop interest in science among children studying in rural areas of Bilaspur district and to attract them towards space science.

He said Urban Rural Planning and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani will flag off the vehicle carrying a group of students from various schools of Bilaspur district to Ahmedabad on July 15.

The ADC said that last year a space laboratory was inaugurated in a government school in Ghumarwin, where models of various programs run by ISRO were installed.

He said, taking this initiative forward, meritorious science students from 10 government schools of the district are being given an opportunity to visit SAC and Gujarat Science City.

This will help these students see and understand the workings of the models they have seen and read about in the space lab, ADC said.

SAC is known for the development, manufacturing and qualification of communications, navigation, Earth observation and planetary payloads and associated data processing and ground systems in the areas of communication, broadcasting, remote sensing and disaster monitoring and mitigation, Patel said.

Apart from the SAC, he said, the school children will also visit the country's largest space museum, state-of-the-art IMAX 3D theatre, energy park, life science park, musical fountains and an amphitheater at Gujarat Science City.
