A telephone poll conducted by national news agency Kyodo over the weekend showed Kishida's Cabinet approval rating at 22.2 percent, down from 24.2 percent in May, Xinhua news agency reported.

Meanwhile, the rejection rate remained stable at 62.4 percent.

About 36.6 percent of respondents demanded Kishida's immediate resignation, while 78.9 percent felt that the recently amended political funding law had failed to address money in politics, despite Kishida's claims of increasing transparency. Opposition parties have criticized the reform as inadequate.

The survey also highlighted public skepticism about the government's 40,000 yen (about $250) tax cut, with 69.6 percent seeing it as insufficient to help families cope with rising costs.

Furthermore, 90.4 percent of respondents felt that the proposed changes to the reporting of political activity funds were inadequate.

According to Kyodo, the survey received responses from 431 household members and 625 mobile phone users.
