New Delhi, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Saturday reported 7 per cent year-on-year growth in total sales in May at 63,551 units.
HMIL said in a statement that the company sold a total of 59,601 units in May 2023.
Domestic dispatch of vehicles to dealers rose 1 per cent to 49,151 units last month from 48,601 units in the year-ago period.
Exports rose 31 per cent to 14,400 units in May, compared to 11,000 units in the year-ago period.
HMIL COO Tarun Garg said, “Despite the week-long routine bi-annual maintenance shutdown at our Sriperumbudur factory, we have maintained a healthy total sales volume in May 2024.”
He said SUVs remain a growth driver for HMIL and their share in domestic sales stood at over 67 per cent last month.
"Our rural penetration in May was 20.1 percent," Garg said.
