New Delhi [India], The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea by Leena Paulose, wife of alleged swindler Sukesh Chandrashekhar, challenging the Delhi High Court order that had postponed her bail appeal in a Rs 200 crore extortion case. .

The vacation bench of Justice PV Sanjay Kumar and Justice Augustine George Masih made it clear that urgent action cannot be sought in the case.

"The special leave petition is dismissed. The pending applications will also be dismissed," the bench said in its order passed on June 14.

Paulose had filed the SLP against the Delhi High Court's May 20 order, which had postponed his bail plea to July.

The bench said that the petition was filed before the High Court on May 14 and then notice was issued on May 20.

"You have been in jail for two years and eight months, as soon as you come to the court you need an order," the top court said.

As the lawyer representing Paulose requested the top court to take immediate action, the bench said, "It is not for us to arrange for a High Court board."

According to the prosecution, Chandrashekhar and his wife Leena Paulose were allegedly involved in running an organized crime syndicate with their associates since 2013 for the purpose of economic gain through fraud and extortion.

Both Chandrashekhar and his wife were arrested by Delhi Police in September 2021 for their alleged role in the fraud case. He is currently in judicial custody.
