New Delhi [India], Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday urged opposition parties to "cooperate" in Parliament as he took charge as Parliamentary Affairs Minister.

He was accompanied by his colleagues, Ministers of State Arjun Ram Meghwal and Dr L Murugan as well as other top officials of the ministry.

After assuming charge, Rijiju expressed his gratitude to the media persons and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing the media persons, Kiren Rijiju said, "First of all, I would like to thank the media persons who have reached the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to witness the official assuming charge ceremony. I thank PM Narendra Modi ji for entrusting me with this responsibility. I want to give.“Such a big responsibility.”

He said, "I, along with Arjun Ram Meghwal ji and Dr. L. Murugan ji, are committed to our work to fulfill the Prime Minister's wish of smoothly running parliamentary affairs by successfully taking everyone along. We will do everything possible Will reach everyone in the right way." ,

He also urged "compassionate cooperation" in Parliament from opposition parties and said that everyone's contribution is required in Parliament.

“I would like to urge all political parties, all members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for their cooperation.Parliament is a place where we discuss about the future and development prospects of the country. Every member of Parliament is committed to only one cause, i.e., development. Therefore we need everyone's contribution in the functioning of Parliament. As the Prime Minister has voiced the spirit of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', we would like to start this spirit from Parliament only,'' Rijiju said.

Kiren Rijiju is one of the prominent leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party representing Arunachal Pradesh.Kiren Rijiju, who holds the charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Earth Sciences, previously served as the Union Minister of Law and Justice from July 2021 to May 2023.

Rijiju got the charge of Food Processing Industries in March 2024 and Ministry of Earth Sciences in May 2023.

From May 2019 to July 2021, Rijiju was the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports; and Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

He was the Union Minister of State for Home from May 2014 to May 2019 in the first term of the Narendra Modi government.

Earlier in 2007, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Energy as well as a member of the Consultative Committee in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Development of North Eastern Region.In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rijiju defeated Congress state president Nabam Tuki from Arunachal West constituency by a margin of 100738 votes. He has been holding the Arunachal West seat since 2004.

In the 2022 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won both the seats of Arunachal Pradesh.
