New Delhi: INDIA opposition bloc leaders have decided to raise the NEET issue in both houses of Parliament on Friday and members will give notices in this regard, sources said.

The decision was taken at a meeting of INDIA bloc leaders on Thursday, they said, adding that opposition members are ready to file adjournment notices in the Lok Sabha and under Rule 267 in Rajya Sabha.

Leaders of several parties also decided to hold a protest on Monday morning before parliamentary proceedings begin, raising the issue of a "political vendetta" against opposition leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and three West Bengal ministers. ministers, using agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the income tax department, sources said.

Leaders of the Indian National Alliance for Inclusive Development (INDIA) met at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge here. Besides Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule (both NCP-SP), Derek O'Brien (TMC), Sanjay Raut, Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena-UBT), Sanjay Singh, Sandeep Pathak (both AAP), NK Premchandran (RSP) and Mahua Majhi (JMM) were present on the occasion.

Gandhi later said in a Facebook post that he attended the plenary leaders' meeting.

"All of us are committed to unitedly raising the issues affecting people and fighting for their rights," the Congress leader said in a Hindi post.

Opposition leaders discussed a number of issues that will be jointly addressed in both houses of Parliament. The problems include unemployment, price rise, misuse of central agencies, collapse of institutions, NEET exams and document leaks.

With the INDIA block parties demanding the appointment of a deputy speaker in the Lok Sabha from the opposition ranks, sources said they would press hard for their demand and discuss names for the post soon.

They believe that the post of vice president should go to any of the main opposition parties, such as the Congress, the Samajwadi Party (SP), the Trinamool Congress (TMC) or the DMK.

"INDIA party leaders met at the residence of INC president Sh. Mallikarjun Kharge ji to chalk out the strategy for the rest of the Parliament session," Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said in a post on X.
