Jammu, Top officials of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) on Monday reviewed the ongoing development projects on the 200 km long Jammu-Poonch National Highway.

He said the objective of the inspection was to assess the progress and quality of critical infrastructure projects to enhance connectivity and promote regional development.

During the inspection, the officials expressed satisfaction over the progress made in the project and highlighted the dedication and expertise of the workforce involved.

The project involves construction of roads, bridges and tunnels, he said, adding that the upgrade of this National Highway will significantly reduce travel time, increase connectivity between regions and provide all-weather accessibility, especially in challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions. Officials said the BRO achieved a major feat in January by breaching the 700-metre-long Nowshera tunnel on the highly strategic 200-km-long stretch that connects Jammu with Poonch district.

He said the project is expected to be completed by 2026, ahead of schedule.
