New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its order on the contempt notice issued to yoga guru Ramdev, his associate Balkrishna and a Patanjali Ayurved lieutenant in the misleading advertisement case.

A bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah said that the counsel appearing for the company has sought time to file an affidavit indicating the steps being taken by Patanjali to withdraw the advertisements of those products, Whose licenses have been suspended.

The bench said that the affidavit should be filed within three weeks.

"The order on the contempt notice issued to respondents 5 (Patanjali Ayurved Limited, Balkrishna and Ramdev) is reserved," the bench said.

During the hearing, Indian Medical Association (IMA) President RV Ashok tendered an unconditional apology to the bench for his statements made against the App Court in a recent interview, where he had made reference to the Patanjali Ayurveda misleading advertisement case. Answered the questions.

Justice Kohli told Ashokan, "You cannot sit on the sofa and give interviews to the press and ridicule the court."

The bench told the IMA counsel that at this stage, the court is not inclined to accept the apology affidavit given by the IMA president.

Hearing the case on May 7, the apex court had termed Ashokan's statements as "very, very unacceptable".

The Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority (SLA) had earlier told the top court that the manufacturing licenses of 14 products of Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd and Divya Pharmacy have been "suspended with immediate effect".

The top court is hearing a petition filed by the IMA in 2022 alleging the Covid vaccination campaign by Patanjali is a smear campaign against modern medical systems.
