Thiruvananthapuram, a day after the CPI in Kerala said that the SFI will become a liability to the Left Front if it does not change its conduct, CPI(M) leader AK Balan on Friday said that no one within or outside the LDF he would be allowed to destroy the student suit.

Balan said the Students Federation of India (SFI) was a movement created by the CPI(M) and it has grown over the years.

"We will not allow anyone to destroy it. What I said is directed at those inside and outside the left front," he said.

Balan further said that those who were not present in the political scene of Kerala or India when the SFI was growing and when it was in crisis, "would not understand its story".

His comments were apparently in response to CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam's comments on Thursday when he slammed the SFI, saying that if its methods were not corrected, it would become a liability to the Left front. in the state.

Viswam had said that the methods of the CPI(M) student wing "are not those of the Left student movement".

"The SFI activists and comrades should read about the history of the student movement. They are not aware of their origins and what they represent. The new SFI does not know the meaning of the term Left Front. They do not know the depth of its political ideology.

"They also do not know the obligations of the Left Front in the new world. They must be taught about all this. If they are not taught, if they are not corrected, the SFI will become a liability for the Left Front. That should not happen ", had said.

Reportedly, he was speaking regarding the SFI's recent activities, including allegedly slapping a college principal and beating up a KSU leader on the Kerala University campus, which have been in the news.

Viswam had also said that there are thousands of youth in the SFI and keeping them in mind, the student team needs to be guided on the right path.

"They (SFI) should become the force of the left front. To do this, they must be made aware that the paths they have adopted now are not correct," the CPI State Secretary had stated.
