Noida/Lucknow, Taking proactive steps to deal with emergencies during the Lok Sabha elections, the Uttar Pradesh government has made arrangements for deployment of air ambulances and helicopters for all seven phases of voting in the state.

According to an official statement, air ambulances and helicopters will be strategically deployed at various locations in the state, depending on the timing of the elections.

It said the Uttar Pradesh government has already purchased air ambulances and helicopters on lease from a private aviation company headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana.

The statement said the air resources will not only be ready to provide prompt assistance during the crisis but will also facilitate transportation of medical supplies and deployment of paramilitary and police forces as required.

“As an important part of the security measures, air ambulances and helicopters will be strategically deployed at various locations during each phase of the elections.In the initial phase to be held on April 19, focusing on the western region o Uttar Pradesh, helicopters will be deployed to Moradabad on April 18 and 19. An air ambulance will be deployed to Bareilly on the 19th."

Similarly, for the second phase on April 26, helicopters will be deployed in Aligarh on April 25 and 26, while air ambulances will be deployed in Meerut on April 26. In the third phase on May 7, helicopters will be deployed. Air ambulances will be deployed in Agra on 6th and 7th May, while in Bareilly on 7th.,

According to the statement, as soon as the fourth phase of elections will be held on May 13, helicopters will be deployed in Kanpur on May 12 and 13 and an air ambulance will be deployed in Lucknow on May 13.

Similarly, for the fifth phase, helicopters will be deployed in Jhansi on May 20 and an air ambulance in Lucknow. In the sixth phase, helicopters will be deployed in Ayodhya and an air ambulance will be deployed in Prayagraj.

Finally, in the final phase on June 1, helicopters will be deployed in Gorakhpur, while air ambulances will be deployed in Varanasi.

Apart from providing vital medical assistance during emergencies, it will play a vital role in rapid transportation and deployment of forces to the affected areas."This preventive measure is aimed at reducing the risk of a possible major accident during an emergency. The lease has been contracted to JetServ Aviation Pvt Ltd, based in Gurugram, at a cost of Rs 5.60 lakh with a minimum usage requirement of 2 hours per day ,” according to the statement.

"Over the course of seven days, this arrangement will cost a total of Rs 39.20 lakh with financial approval given by the state government. The Uttar Pradesh Civil Aviation Department and the Uttar Pradesh Police Headquarters in Lucknow have been entrusted with the work of calculation and management.Payment including applicable GST, as per rules,” it said.

The statement said that any additional funds remaining after the expenditure will be deposited in the treasury as per the established protocol.
