The red code alert will be in effect on Saturday and Sunday for the regions of Crisana, Banat, Oltenia, Muntenia, Moldova and the capital Bucharest, where maximum temperatures will range from 37 to 41 degrees Celsius and the temperature-humidity index (THI) will remain above the critical 80 units, the ANM said. The limit will be exceeded, indicating acute thermal discomfort.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will remain under orange code alert for heat, with maximum temperatures ranging between 35 to 40 degrees Celsius, while coastal areas will reach 32 to 35 degrees Celsius, Xinhua news agency reported.

Additionally, more than half the country will be under Orange Code heat wave warning on Thursday, with temperatures reaching 39 degrees Celsius, the ANM said.
