Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being honored with Russia's highest civilian award and said it is an honor for 140 crore Indians.

In a post on Twitter, Adityanath said, "The highest civilian honour, 'Order of St Andrew the Apostle' conferred by the Russian Federation on our Honorable Prime Minister Shri @NarendraModi ji, is an honor for 140 crore Indians."

“This well-deserved honor reflects the deep respect that both countries have for each other, acknowledging his significant contribution in preserving the cherished friendship between Russia and India.

The Chief Minister said, "Congratulations to our Honorable Prime Minister for this outstanding achievement. Under your leadership, India will continue to move forward and achieve unparalleled success on the international stage."

He also shared the video of Prime Minister Modi being given the award on X.

Modi was on Tuesday officially honored with the 'Order of St Andrew the Apostle' award by Russian President Vladimir Putin for his contribution in promoting bilateral relations between the two countries.

Putin presented the award to Modi at a special ceremony at the Kremlin's St. Andrew Hall.

This award was announced in 2019. Modi is the first Indian leader to be honored with the award, which was established in 1698 by Tsar Peter the Great in honor of St. Andrew, the first apostle of Jesus and the patron saint of Russia.
