New Delhi: The government on Tuesday said it has received bids from seven companies, including Reliance Industries and JSW Neo Energy, for production-link incentives to set up battery manufacturing facilities of 10 GW capacity with an outlay of Rs 3,620 crore.

Other bidders in the list include ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd, Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Pvt Ltd, Anvi Power Industry Pvt Ltd, Lucas TVS Ltd and Vaari Energies Ltd.

Bids for manufacturing facilities with a cumulative capacity of 70 GW CAM were invited in response to a global tender issued by the Ministry of Heavy Industries on January 24 this year.

"The scheme received an overwhelming response from the industry as 7 times more bids were received than the manufacturing capacity of 10 GW," the minister said.

The ministry had announced re-bidding of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) for manufacturing 10 GWh Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC).

The pre-bid meeting was held on 12 February. The last date for receiving applications was April 22 and the technical bids were opened on Tuesday.

In May 2021, the Union Cabinet had approved the PLI Scheme for the Nation Program on ACC Battery Storage with an outlay of Rs 18,100 crore. The scheme aims to achieve domestic manufacturing capacity of 50 giga watt hours (GWh) or battery storage.

The first round of bidding concluded in March 2022 and a total of 30 GWh capacity was allocated to three companies. The agreement was signed with the selected companies in July 2022.
