Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister-designate Mohan Charan Majhi paid floral tributes at statues of state symbols in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday morning ahead of his swearing-in ceremony.

Along with Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Prabhati Parida, Majhi paid floral tributes at the statues of Utkal Mani Gopabandhu Das at Gopabandhu Square, Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das outside Raj Bhavan, Sriram Chandra Bhanj Dev and Parala Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati at Power House Square. And Ramchandra Mardaraj Dev at AG Square.

He also garlanded the statues of Fakir Mohan Senapati at Vani Vihar intersection, Dharanidhar Bhuiyan at Mayfair intersection, Gangadhar Meher at Kalinga Hospital intersection and Birsa Munda at Maitri Vihar.

Majhi, a four-time MLA, said work would begin within 100 days of the formation of the new government to fulfill the promises made in the BJP's manifesto.Deputy CM Dev said, "The moment we take oath, we will start working on the promises made to the people in our election manifesto. We had gone to the people to seek their blessings and they gave us a chance to come." To the government."

On his way to garland the Insignia statue, Majhi stopped at AG Square and met Bijay Kumar Das, a class IV employee of the transport department, who was waiting on the roadside.

“He came up to me and asked if I was okay,” Das said.''He said that he does not believe that any leader will talk to the common man even after the elections.

"I told them that my salary goes towards taking care of my family and it is not enough to afford my children's education," he said.

After the meeting, Majhi said that after 24 years of rule by one party, the minimum needs of the people should be fulfilled.

“But, here, people are struggling for a decent life,” he said.

The BJP came to power by securing 78 of the 147 assembly seats, ending BJD's 24-year rule.
