New Delhi: Six-time world champion boxer MC Mary Kom on Friday stepped down as India's chef-de-mission for the upcoming Paris Olympics, saying she had "no option left" due to some personal reasons.

The President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced that Mary Kom has requested to be relieved from her post in a letter addressed to him.

“I consider it an honor to serve my country in every possible way and I was mentally prepared for it. However, I regret that I will not be able to shoulder this prestigious responsibility and would like to resign due to personal reasons " the 41-year-old said in a letter to Usha.

She said, "It's a shame to back out of a commitment, which I rarely do, but I have no choice. I'm there to cheer on my country and the athletes who compete with great expectations at this Olympic Games." I am present."

The IOA had announced his appointment on March 21.

The renowned boxer, who is also a 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist, was to be the logistics in-charge of the country's contingent at the July 26-August 11 Games.
