The first male and female voters at each polling station will participate in tree plantation. In preparation for free, fair and peaceful elections, Meghalaya has deployed 40 companies of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces and state police personnel at 29 critical and 477 sensitive polling stations. There are a total of 3,51 polling stations in the state, of which 140 are along the Bangladesh border and 187 are along the Assam border. As of April 11, Rs 44 crore has been seized along with 11,000 weapons deposited after the Model Code of Conduct was imposed in Shillong (ST).
