New Delhi, A section of restaurants in Mumbai on Tuesday announced a 20 per cent discount on the total bill price of food to local voters on 20 May 21.

The Democracy Discount initiative is a way for the hospitality fraternity to encourage citizens to go out and vote, National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) Mumbai chapter said in a statement.

"Mumbai as a city has always had such a great sense of community and I'm thrilled that we have so many great brands as part of the NRA Mumbai Chapter," Rachel Goenka, head of the NRAI Mumbai Chapter, said in the statement.

As part of this initiative, all participating restaurants will offer 20 percent discount on the total bill price to dine-in customers who are residents as per their voter ID card and have cast their vote with an inked finger.

Voting will be held in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai on 20 May 2024.
