Over 450 houses were damaged after heavy rain coupled with hailstorm hit parts of Aizawl, Mizoram. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.

He said that Aizawl, Kolasib, Champhai and Khwajawal districts have been most affected by the disaster that hit the state in the last two days.

At least 265 houses were damaged and more than 13,900 people were affected by the rain and hailstorm in Kolasib district bordering Assam, a Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department official said.

He said that apart from this, an Anganwadi center and some government buildings were also damaged.

He said that Kolasib town and Thingdaval village in Kolasi district have been most affected.

Officials said at least 178 houses were damaged in Aizawl district.

A woman was also injured in Falcon village. He told that he has been admitted to Jora Medical College and Hospital.

Several houses were also damaged in North Khawbung, Kaharawat and Bungzun villages of Champhai district. Officials said two churches and 10 houses were also damaged in Khwajawal district.

Earlier this month, more than 2,500 homes, 15 churches, 17 schools and 1 refugee camp were damaged and a woman died in a similar disaster.
