Somerset [UK], Former England captain Michael Vaughan's son Archie has signed his first professional contract with county club Somerset until the end of the 2026 season. 18-year-old Archie has been part of Somerset's academy at Taunton. Archie made his first appearance for the second XI in 2022. He also made an appearance in the T20 Abu Dhabi Counties Super Cup against Yorkshire and scored 35 runs from 28 balls. He scored runs at a strike rate of 125 and hit three fours and two tremendous sixes.After penning his first professional contract, which will take effect on November 1, Archie was quoted by Somerset's official website as saying: "It's something I've worked very hard for and it's something I've been striving for ever since. As a kid, getting the opportunity to go to a club where I've really enjoyed the last few years is an honor, "I'd like to gain as much experience as I can and work with more experienced guys." I can learn from the players in the dressing room. I want to contribute to the other team whenever I get the chance and be a good team player." Somerset's director of cricket Andy Hurry expressed his excitement after the youngster signed a professional contract, "Archie is a Is a young person. Bright future ahead of him. Rocky hit the headlines by scoring a century for the Lancashire Second XI against Warwickshire Josh de Caires, son of former England captain Michael Atherton, joined the ranks as a first-team player for Middlesex, having enjoyed an illustrious career with the England cricket team.
