NCP state chief Sunil Tatkare said Antulay has been in politics for a long time and his entry will further strengthen the NCP.

Tatkare said, “His entry will be a befitting reply to the misinformation campaign launched against the party after he joined our NDA.”

Antulay's decision is especially significant when Tatkare is contesting re-election from Raiga constituency against Shiv Sena UBT candidate and former Union minister Ananth Geete.

The NCP hopes to consolidate more voters from Muslims and minorities in Raiga constituency as some traditional supporters of these communities have expressed objection to the party's move to forge an alliance with the BJP.
