Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday accused Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole of "insulting" the tribal community with his remarks after President Draupadi Murmu's visit to the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

"Congress always insults tribals as Patole's statement came after President Draupadi Murmu's visit to Lord Ram temple," Yadav said in a statement.

Days after President Murmu offered prayers, Maharashtra Congress chief Nan Patole said the Ram temple should be washed with Ganga water, Yadav said, "which shows the dirty mentality of the opposition party."

The Chief Minister said, Lord Ram spent 11 years with the tribal community during his 14-year exile and gave the message of respecting all communities.

He alleged that if Congress gets a chance to form the government, then on the lines of Karnataka, it will stop the reservation being given to SC, ST and OBC in Madhya Pradesh also.

Yadav alleged that Congress wants to destroy the Constitution.

Yadav met state Governor Mangubhai Patel at Raj Bhavan on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the Governor, Yadav said they discussed various issues including wheat procurement and water management during the summer season.

“The Congress supports the stand taken by the four Shankaracharyas (heads of major Hindu temples) on the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony (which they did not attend). They will be invited for a grand puja in the temple (if Congress comes to power) which will be purified,” Patole had said in Nagpur.
