Mumbai: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has detained two teachers running a private coaching center in Latur district in connection with alleged irregularities in the conduct of the medical entrance exam NEET-UG, an official said on Sunday.

He said that the Nanded unit of the agency detained both of them on Saturday night and let them go after hours of interrogation. The official said that one of these teachers works in a government school in Latur district.

He said that if necessary, ATS will call the teachers again.

The agency's action came soon after the Center announced that the investigation into alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination would be handed over to the CBI, thereby accepting the demand of students protesting across the country to investigate the matter.
