Nana Patole said that if India Bloc comes to power then it will get the purification of Ram temple done by four Shankaracharyas. He also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not follow the protocols and hence the purification ritual was required.

Patole's call for purification of the grand Ram temple drew sharp reactions from BJP spokespersons, while there were also sharp reactions on social media.

Some BJP spokespersons told IANS that Patole's comments were bad and condemnable.

Rohan Gupta, while speaking to IANS, criticized the grand old party for its hatred and opposition towards Ram Lalla.“First he questioned the existence of Ram Lalla, then opposed its creation and rejected the invitation for the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. Today it talks about the purification of the temple. Those who did not go to the temple are demanding purification, this is absurd,” said Rohan Gupta.

He said, “Congress has become in the habit of crossing limits in its hatred towards the Prime Minister. The people of the country will not forgive him for his sins. The Indian faction will not get a chance to return to power.,

Another BJP spokesperson RP Singh, speaking to IANS, criticized the party's double standards on the issue.

“They continued to oppose the existence of Ramlala and the realization of his dream. He said, these leaders never visited Ram temple and today they want its purification.

Former Congressman Pramod Krishnam hit out at Patole for his derogatory remarks on Ram Lalla and said, "It is an absurd and ridiculous statement."

“By taking the name of Lord Rama a person becomes pure.By taking his name all our sins are washed away. What does Congress want to say with purification? You should purify the minds of Congressmen, the minds of those who want to destroy the party,” Krishnam told IANS.

He also advised Congress to get rid of its hatred towards Lord Ra before talking about purification.

He said, “If Congress makes such statements, it will be a disaster for the party."
