Ranchi: The southwest monsoon advanced into Jharkhand on Friday and covered two of the 24 districts in the state, a weather official said.

The southwest monsoon entered from the northeastern part of the state and covered Sahebganj and Pakur districts, he said.

The normal date of onset of monsoon in Jharkhand is June 10. However, as per the monsoon onset records of Ranchi Meteorological Centre, it enters Jharkhand between June 12 and June 25 since 2010.

In 2023, monsoon reached Jharkhand on June 19.

Abhishek Anand, in-charge of Ranchi Meteorological Centre, said, "South-west monsoon has entered Jharkhand on Friday and has covered Sahebganj and Pakur districts. During this time, conditions are favorable for further advance of monsoon in some more parts of the state. Are favorable." Next three-four days."

He said that overall seasonal rainfall from June 1 to September 30 is expected to be normal. "The state may receive less rainfall in June but it will reduce in July," he said.

65 percent rainfall deficiency has been recorded in the state from June 1 to 21. The state has received 36 mm rainfall against the normal rainfall of 101.5 mm. Garhwa district is suffering from maximum rainfall deficiency of 91 percent.

It has been raining intermittently in some parts of Jharkhand including Ranchi since Thursday evening and it continued on Friday as well. Jaganathpur in West Singhbhum district recorded the highest rainfall of 74.5 mm in the last 24 hours. Rain in Jharkhand brought relief from the scorching heat.
