Mumbai, Production house Bhavana Studios has announced the sequel of its recent Malayalam hit "Premalu".
Girish Eddy, who directed the romantic comedy which released in theaters in February this year to positive reviews, will return as director for the next film.
The studio announced the film in a post on Instagram on Friday evening and said it will be released in 2025.
Bhavana Studios wrote along with the poster of the film, "The biggest romcom blockbuster ever in Malayalam cinema let's 'Premalu 2' return in 2025."
"Premaalu" stars Sangeet Pratap, Shyam Mohan, Meenakshi Raveendran, Akhila Bhargavan and Althaf Saleem along with Naslane and Mamita Baiju in the lead roles.
Co-written by Girish and Kiran Josie, the story is based on the budding romance between Sachin (Naslen) and Reenu, played by Baiju. According to reports, the film had earned more than Rs 135 crore at the global box office.
"Premalu 2" will be produced by Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil, writer-director Dileesh Pothan and writer Shyam Pushkaran under the banner of Bhavana Studios.
