New Delhi [India], After heavy rains lashed the national capital creating traffic jams and road blocks, some workers were trapped after a wall under construction collapsed in the Vasant Vihar area.

Preliminary reports indicated that the collapse was aggravated by heavy rain, which also caused two trees to fall in the basement where the temporary cabins for workers were located.

The exact number of victims is still unclear, but it is reported that Labor Dayaram and two other people are suspected of being trapped in the mud and debris.

Rescue operations led by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and the fire department are currently underway, with teams mobilized to pull out people trapped under the rubble.

Earlier today, a part of a canopy at a departure terminal at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport collapsed amid heavy rain in Delhi.

The incident occurred when Delhi-NCR was hit by a spell of heavy rain on Friday.

All flight operations from Terminal 1 are suspended until further notice, the Ministry of Civil Aviation reported in an official statement.

"Heavy rain early today caused the roof of Delhi Airport's Terminal 1 to collapse. As a result, flights to and from Terminal 1 have been closed until further notice. Alternative arrangements are being made to the proper functioning of terminal 1. flights," reads the ministry's statement.

Several regions of Delhi-NCR were affected by intense waterlogging problems. Footage shows that Govindpuri area in south Delhi and Sector 95 of Noida are submerged in water.

Delhi and NCR (National Capital Region) received incessant rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on Friday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the weather for the next seven days in Delhi, predicting generally cloudy skies and rain of varying intensity accompanied by gusty winds.

As predicted by the IMD for June 28, the forecast includes light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, with temperatures similar to the previous day and winds reaching speeds of up to 35 km/h.

The weather on June 29 is expected to be slightly cooler, with a high of 36°C and a low of 28°C. The city is likely to experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 km/h. On June 30, temperatures will drop further to 34°C, with moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds.

For July 1 and 2, the IMD forecasts thunderstorms with moderate rain, with temperatures stable at 34°C maximum and 27°C minimum. Wind speed will continue to vary, remaining in a range of 25-35 km/h.
