In the unlimited voice plan, the company has increased the mobile tariff from Rs 179 to Rs 199, from Rs 455 to Rs 599 and from Rs 1,799 to Rs 1,999.

For post-paid plans, the Rs 399 tariff plan will now be priced at Rs 449; Rs 499 plan will be priced at Rs 549; The price of Rs 599 plan will be Rs 699 and the Rs 999 plan will now be priced at Rs 1199, which will be effective from July 3.

In a statement, Bharti Airtel said it has ensured that mobile average revenue per user (ARPU) should be above Rs 300 to enable a financially healthy business model for telecom companies in India.

"We believe this level of ARPU will enable the substantial investment required in network technology and spectrum and provide modest returns on capital," Bharti Airtel said.

Shares of Bharti Airtel rose nearly 1 per cent to Rs 1,491 in morning trade.

Earlier, Reliance Jio had also announced 12-27 percent increase in mobile tariff.
