Srinagar, State Congress Committee President Vikar Rasool Wani on Sunday targeted the BJP government and alleged that it has failed to restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said, “BJP's claims of improving the situation are hollow. BJP claims that they have ended terrorism after removing Article 370, but you know how many incidents have happened in Rajouri, yesterday there was an attack in Poonch also.

"Earlier, there was the attack in Kokernag, several targeted killings have taken place. The truth is that they have failed to provide security to the people and restore peace," Wani told reporters at the Congress headquarters here.

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that some people in Pakistan want to make Congress leader Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of India, Wani said that these statements from the neighboring country were made by agents of BJP.

He said, "Modi ji had said something about Rahul ji yesterday. I would say that he is an agent of these (BJP) people in Pakistan, from whom such statements are made which will defame the Congress."

On the possibility of better turnout in Srinagar Lok Sabha seat, Van said that people should come out to vote.

"The Constitution has given us the right to elect our representatives. This boycott in Kashmir has given unfair advantage to some parties in the past. I appeal to the people, especially in Srinagar, to come out and vote."

He said, "You can see today that the ruling party is demanding more than 400 seats so that it can take away our right to vote by making changes in the Constitution. So we have to protect that right and in Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the BJP has to be thrown out of power." The country too,” he added.
