Bengaluru: A court here on Monday sent former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of rape and sexual assault against several women, to 14-day judicial custody.

He was produced before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court after his Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody ended today.

On May 31, the court sent him to SIT custody till June 6 and later extended it till June 10.

While in his custody, the SIT conducted a detailed investigation, which included gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses, and extensively interrogated Revanna about the allegations.

Keeping in mind the seriousness of the allegations and the evidence presented by the SIT, the court decided to send him to judicial custody for 14 days till June 24.The 33-year-old grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda had failed in his bid to retain Hassan parliamentary constituency in the recent elections.

SIT sleuths arrested Revanna soon after he landed at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport from Germany on May 31.

On April 27, a day after Hassan went to the polls, he left for Germany. Following a request by the SIT through the Central Bureau of Investigation, a 'Blue Corner Notice' seeking information about his whereabouts was earlier issued by Interpol.

A special court for elected representatives issued an arrest warrant against Revanna on May 18 following an application filed by the SIT.He was arrested on April 28 in Holenarasipura in Hassan district in a case registered against him. He was accused of sexually assaulting a 47-year-old former maid. He has been listed as accused number two, while his father and MLA HD Revanna is the primary accused.

Three cases of sexual harassment have been registered against Prajwal Revanna. He is also accused of rape.

Cases of sexual exploitation came to light after a pen-drive containing explicit videos allegedly belonging to Prajwal Revanna was circulated in Hassan ahead of the Lok Sabha elections on 26 April.JD(S) suspended him from the party following the cases registered against him.
