Co-founder and CEO Byju Raveendran will take a more hands-on approach to leading the company's daily operations following the resignation of Mohan, who will be part of the edtech firm in an "external advisory role".

The move is intended to streamline operations and position the company for "long-term success."

Raveendran said, "Mohan has done an excellent job in steering Biju through challenging times. We are grateful for his leadership and look forward to his continued contribution as a strategic advisor."

The company has now decided to consolidate its business into three "focused divisions"
, online classes and tuition centers, and test-prep.

The company said each of these units will have separate leaders who will run the businesses independently to ensure profitability.

“This restructuring marks the beginning of BYJU'S 3.0
, especially in the area of hyper-personalized education,” according to Raveendran.

The edtech company, which is facing severe cash crunch, had promoted Mohan as CEO of its Indian operations in September last year.

Mohan succeeds Mrinal Mohit, the company's founding partner and outgoing head of indie business, who embarks on a new journey to pursue Persona aspirations.

“By focusing on our core strengths with three distinct business units, we will open up new growth opportunities while focusing on profitability,” Raveendran said.
