Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], A sessions court in Mumbai on Thursday convicted Bollywood actor Laila Khan's stepfather for the murder of the actor, his mother and four others, including his three siblings, thirteen years after she went missing. Police have identified the accused as Parvez Tak, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, who was arrested in 2012. Another accused, who is also involved in this case, is still absconding. The court has convicted Tak of murdering his stepdaughter and the actor. Lail Khan, his mother Shelina Patel, his three siblings and his cousin in February 2011. About 40 witnesses were examined during the trial. The court will hear the defense and prosecution on the quantum of punishment on May 14. According to officials, Laila and her family members were murdered in their farmhouse in Igatpuri in February 2011. After Tak's arrest, the police recovered their bodies. in 2012. In 2011, Laila Khan, who had appeared in a few Bollywood films, went missing along with her mother, her three siblings and her cousin. His father Nadir Patel had contacted the police and lodged a missing complaint. After the complaint, the police started investigation, which continued for months. Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) was also involved as there was suspicion of terrorist angle in the case. However, in July 2012, the ATS announced that Khan's case was a murder case and had 'no terror angle'. His murder came to light a few months later, when Parvez Tak was arrested. Tak was first caught by Jammu and Kashmir Police and later handed over to Mumbai Police. Later, during interrogation, Tak reveals the murder and leads the police to the remains of the deceased, which he had buried in a pit at the farmhouse in Igatpuri.
