Chandigarh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has proposed setting up of a training institute at the Center of Excellence for laboratory testing facilities in forensic sciences, to be set up in Haryana under an MoU signed on Saturday.

The central government will make all arrangements for its establishment, he said.

Shah was speaking in Panchkula after the signing of the MoU between the Haryana government and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for the establishment of the Center of Excellence, an official statement said.

In his speech, Shah suggested that Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, while planning this Centre, should pay attention to setting up a training institute.

In addition, he proposed building a shelter so that police and judicial officers can be trained there.

He said the Center of Excellence will bring a sea change in the criminal justice system in Haryana in the coming days.

It will also emerge as a major training center for north India, he said.

Shah congratulated the people of Haryana on this occasion and said that the state government has decided to improve the criminal justice system by partnering with the National University of Forensic Sciences.

He said NFSU has currently set up its campuses in nine states, and the central cabinet recently approved a proposal to expand its campuses to about 16 states.

Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar said that the Center was envisioned in Surajkund in 2022 and through this MoU, this vision is becoming a reality.

He said earlier there was only one forensic science laboratory in the state, but now there are four more in operation.

Haryana CM Saini said that the establishment of this center will greatly benefit the criminal justice system.

"Often due to lack of resources, justice is delayed, but with new technologies we will be able to provide quick justice to victims," ​​he said.

With the establishment of National University of Forensic Sciences, Haryana is taking the lead and it will benefit the state, the CM said.

National University of Forensic Sciences Vice Chancellor Dr J M Vyas said the establishment of the center will enhance the forensic capabilities of Haryana, benefiting the entire criminal justice system.

Under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National University of Forensic Sciences is helping to strengthen forensic capabilities in 92 countries.

He said Haryana "has taken the lead in this direction and we are establishing a world-class laboratory here."

He said the university will provide technical support to expedite resolution of pending cases.

Under this MOU, a strong center of excellence in training and laboratory testing facilities in forensic sciences will be established and the NFSU will guide the research and testing of forensic samples and also provide expert knowledge, he said.
